The Oran Mor/Channel 4 Comedy Drama Award

Òran Mór is delighted to announce the launch of the Channel 4/Òran Mór Comedy Drama Award.  The Award carries a prize of £5000 and is open to all writers resident in the UK.  The winning entry will be selected by a panel of judges drawn from Òran Mór and Channel 4 and will be given its stage premier in March 2013 at A Play A Pie and A Pint during the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.

The winning entry will also be produced as a 2 minute viral video.

David MacLennan, producer of A Play A Pie and A Pint, said " I'm particularly pleased to have the support of Channel 4 for this exciting award.  I feel it will provoke a tremendous response from playwrights, both new and established, and will expose new talent to both theatre, and potentially in the future a television audience".

Ian McKenzie, Media Project Manager for Channel 4 Creative Diversity said "This is a fantastic opportunity for Channel 4 to partner with an already successful platform for new writing and performing talent.  Short form writing skills are a key stepping stone into scripted TV content; we look forward to seeing what Òran Mór's search uncovers".

The closing date for entries is Monday 1st October 2012.

Scripts, in one act and no more than 50 minutes in length and using no more than 3 actors, should be submitted by email to: april.cha@gmail.com

Please include a cover sheet with your full contact details and agents details (if applicable).
