At Oran Mor

Directed by Ronan Wilmot. Produced by Kevin Cronin.

A 50-minute play about the relationship between Nora Barnacle and James Joyce.

The play presents the unique relationship and eventual marriage between Nora Barnacle of Galway and James Joyce of Dublin.

Featuring actors Julie Hale as Nora and Rúaidhrí Conroy as Joyce.

Julie Hale (Shetland, My Left Foot, Garrows Law, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime – West End & World Tour)

Rúaidhrí Conroy (Into the West, Six Shooter, received the Theatre World Award for his performance in Martin McDonagh’s play, The Cripple of Inishmaan)

At a time when the world was illuminated by the softer light of the gas lamp, and the film industry was still in its flickering infancy, James Joyce was busy scrutinising his surroundings, collecting images and constructing a pathway with words which was to alter the course of writing – and thinking about writing for ever.

Connected by desire, sometimes separated with frustration, we follow Nora Barnacle and James Joyce as they eloped setting sail from Dublin on a cold windy October night in 1904 to embark on this most intriguing and celebrated literary relationships.
