About Event

THE GRAY PLAYS is a concert reading of four rarely-seen short plays from Glasgow writer and illustrator Alasdair Gray; Noisy lodgers, a warring couple, some lightbulb problems and a conversation with God, Quiet People, Loss of the Golden Silence, The Man Who Knew Too Much About Electricity, & Good Jimmy. Presented beneath Oran Mor’s celestial ceiling mural painted by Gray himself, the plays are performed by a cast of Scottish actors and interspersed with anecdotes about the work from The Gray Playbook.

Accompanied by live music, and full of Alasdair’s signature wit, these plays are work that span his life and THE GRAY PLAYS will be a rare opportunity to hear four unique short plays come to life.

Directed by Fraser Scott (Common Tongue, Athens of the North)
Compered by Cora Bissett (What Girls are Made of)
Performed by Jane McCarry (Still Game), James McKenzie (Raven), Sam Stopford (Confessions of a Shinagawa Monkey) and Naomi Stirrat (Snow Queen)
Produced by Annabel Lunney
The Gray Plays is produced by OutwithIt, supported by Creative Scotland and with special permission from the estate of Alasdair Gray
