Ashley and Craig visited Òran Mór for a wedding show round in spring 2017. The couple fell in love with the venue almost instantly and proceeded to look into availability for the following spring to have their ceremony and wedding reception in the Auditorium.
The date was set and the couple began to make plans for the big day including booking their photographers The Gibson’s, florist Julie Reid from A Curious Arrangements and of course Ashley finding her perfect wedding dress at Melle Cloche bridal.
Groom Craig works away, meaning that a lot of the initial planning was done via email. We all met again in February 2018 to discuss all of their wedding plans in detail and it was clear that Ashley was extremely organised and had everything in place.
The couple went on to explain that their original plan to get married in our Auditorium on Saturday 21st of April 2018, had changed slightly. Ashley and Craig then explained that they had decided that their good friend Adam Morgan, who is an international speaker and professional advisor, was going to conduct their wedding ceremony. Adam was not licensed to legally marry the couple, and they just could not envisage anyone else conducting their ceremony. So the decision was made that the couple would legally marry the day before and then have their wedding ceremony at Òran Mór with family and friends conducted by Adam on the wedding date as planned.
The norm for most wedding clients is to drop off their place cards, table plans, favours and all the other wedding bits and bobs to me the day before their wedding day. Ashley and Craig however met me on the Thursday to drop off their belongings, and on leaving – for the first time I wished the happy couple good luck, and all the best for their wedding day as I would not see them both until the day after.
On Friday 20th April, Ashley and Craig went to the registry office to legally marry, along with two of their closest friends as witnesses. The couple invited along photographers The Gibson’s to capture this special moment followed by a photoshoot in Glasgow City Centre.
The following day bride Ashley arrived along with her beautiful bridesmaids to the sound of the pipes welcoming her in to our Bell Tower entrance. I had expected that Ashley wouldn’t have had pre-wedding nerves, as technically she and hubby Craig were already married! But Ashley was still showing pre-wedding nerves and that was completely understandable as she still had to walk our long blue aisle accompanied by her father in front of all of her wedding guests in her stunning white dress.
From the moment I met Adam Morgan, it was clear to me why the couple had chosen him to conduct their wedding ceremony. Not only was he immaculately presented, but he had an extremely warm and friendly manner. After spending some time speaking with Adam and asking about his background he explained that his job was to train and advice hospitality professionals in the service industry – gulp! I ultimately felt under pressure at this point, but Adam reassured me that although he was an expert in public speaking, this was in fact his first wedding ceremony and that he himself was nervous and wanted to make sure that everything went perfectly for his good friends Ashley and Craig.
The ceremony went perfectly and the couple could not have been happier with the outcome of their wedding weekend. The couple ventured to the Botanic Gardens with their bridal party for some stunning wedding shots where The Gibson’s captured the spring backdrop in the gardens perfectly.
However, my favourite picture from Ashley and Craig’s wedding has to be this one… The Gibson’s have done an exceptional job of merging one of our Auditorium windows into a shot of the happy couple at the Bell Tower entrance.
Thank you Ashley and Craig for allowing me to share the story of your unique wedding weekend!
