At my first ever wedding fayre in April 2016 I met with Claire Linton’s mother who introduced herself and informed me that she was attending the fayre representing Claire and Russell who were getting married at Òran Mór in June 2017, but live down south and couldn’t attend. At this point we discussed many aspects of the couple’s big day and Claire’s mother told me about her exceptional attention to detail. From this point on myself and Claire emailed back and forward discussing every inch of her wedding day before finally meeting in August 2017.
When meeting Claire and Russell for the first time we instantly clicked! The couple were excited for their Glasgow city wedding and couldn’t wait to get the wedding plans all under way.
Claire had a habit of apologising after every email about her list of questions and I had to remind her to stop apologising, as I was there to help them and answer all of their questions. However, in January 2018 it was me who had to send an email of apology… as Beyoncé had announced her tour dates and was going to be in Glasgow on Saturday 9th June 2018, the same day as Claire and Russell’s wedding. The couple were extremely understanding and with the timing in place for the couple to be married at 2.00pm, I was able to meet Claire and Russell before the ceremony, congratulate them at the end of the aisle and then quickly shoot off to Hampden to see my idol.
The day before the wedding finally arrived and Claire and Russell turned up with 3 cars full of their wedding décor which included lots and lots of lanterns, a beautifully handmade table plan and another handmade frame for Polaroid pictures of the couple throughout their relationship. We all had great pleasure putting this together and looking back at how much the couple had changed from when they first met in Australia whilst travelling. The couple had clearly spent a lot of time planning their wedding décor – Claire’s mother was right, this bride had not missed a thing.
On Saturday 9th of June 2018 Claire and her six bridesmaids all arrived in white to our Bell Tower entrance on Great Western Road. Not only did Claire have six stunning bridesmaids, but there were also six of the cutest kids walking ahead of her down the aisle to Ginny & The Tonics beautiful sounds. I will never forget the fun and chaos at getting six under ten year olds to walk down the aisle, as we always say ‘slow & steady’… but slow and steady wasn’t going to work on this occasion so I opted for ‘GO GET UNCLE RUSSELL’! At this point I met two of the cheekiest and cutest page boys I have ever met who literally had the wedding guests in fits of laughter at their performance down the aisle, which set the tone of the ceremony perfectly.
The couple were finally married and Lisa Devine did a stunning job as always of capturing every part of the ceremony perfectly. Photographer Lisa then took the couple to Ashton Lane for some great couple shots… and yes the couple also had time for a Jägerbomb along the way – yes Mr & Mrs Barras-Smith you were caught!
On the couples return to the venue the room was set for dinner and the speeches got underway where Claire’s mother and Bridesmaid spoke as well as Russell and all 4 groomsmen. Claire opted for a long top table positioned in front of the stage at the arches in the Auditorium, which made for stunning pictures for speeches.
The couple danced the night away where The Cartel entertained guests until the early hours of the morning and I have been reassured had the night of their life. Later in the night another ‘shot’ was captured by Lisa Devine of all six bridesmaids carrying on the recurring Jägerbomb theme. I’m assuming there may have been some sore heads in the morning.
‘Myself and Russell cannot thank you enough for everything you done for us ❤ it was more than perfect and we are so happy we picked Òran Mór. We couldn’t of asked for a more lovelier person to help arrange our day and you really put us at ease and helped us with everything from start to finish and keeping us right at all times. You made our day perfect.’
I want to say a huge thank you to Claire & Russell for letting me blog their wedding story! Thank you for being so great to work with and for your on-going support after your wedding with the nominations and finally… again being so understanding with my crazy Beyoncé obsession – which I believe photographer Lisa Devine also managed to make it to.
