After a tinder match (which was actually a secret until the night of the hen) and a date to the Zoo, Lynsay and Cronan were pretty much inseparable. The couple moved in together after only 4 months and feeling lost after a holiday without each other, the couple began to discuss marriage.
Lynsay Nixon got in contact in October 2018, only 6 weeks after giving birth to a beautiful little girl. Lynsay informed me that while she was 9 months pregnant Cronan popped the question and because she was so close to giving birth she had to wear her engagement ring on a necklace until her fingers returned to normal size. The couple wanted an intimate wedding with only close friends and family and the Private Dining Room at Òran Mór suited perfectly. With such short notice our availability was slighted limited but we were able to accommodate Lynsay and Cronan’s wedding on Friday 12st of April 2019.
The planning was well under way and Lynsay visited for a second time with photographer Loraine Ross and florist Posies and Pots to discuss the plans for the big day. Wedding planning came naturally to Lynsay, who has since said that the hardest part of it all was persuading Cronan to have his pictures taken.
The couple’s wedding guests were welcomed in our Brasserie restaurant on Great Western Road by our team here at Òran Mór but also by the couples Registrar – who happened to be Lynsay’s Uncle John.
‘I don’t really know what to say about my Registrar – my big unc. There was never a doubt in my mind who would marry me when the day came. John is a registrar for Glasgow City Council – he has been a big part of my life since the day I was born. I have such a close family so it was so special to have my uncle perform the service.’
Guest were then ushered to the Private Dining Room to join a nervous groom Cronan just before Lynsay arrived at 2.00pm in a stunning Alex Veil dress accompanied by her father and bridesmaids. The emotional ceremony began and the couple were finally married!
After the ceremony guests were welcomed back to our Brasserie restaurant for a glass of fizz and some pictures, much to Cronan’s delight. At around 4.00pm the wedding party resided to the Private Dining Room for a 3 course meal, a cake cutting and some speeches and toasts. The tables were set with large floral bouquets, individual wooden place names at each guest’s place setting. The couple’s wedding cake, made by Truly Scrumptious, took pride of place in the corner of our dining room.
Although the couple were keen to keep their wedding ceremony intimate, they wanted to extend the invitation to more of their friends and family to celebrate their marriage, so booked an area in Hillhead Book Club for the rest of the evening.
The week after the wedding I received a lovely email from Lynsay thanking the team at Òran Mór for a lovely day, as well as some pictures and a boomerang of bride Lynsay having the best time! We don’t often host both ceremony and receptions in our Private Dining Room so I was delighted when the couple sent me their pictures to share. Loraine did a wonderful job at capturing the intimate and loving atmosphere in the room for Lynsay & Cronan.
