On Saturday 19th of May 2018 the whole of the UK crowded round their televisions to watch Megan Markle walk down the St Georges Church aisle in Windsor Castle at 12.00pm before marrying Prince Harry. I remember clear as day myself and social media manager Nicola perching round her computer to catch Megan arriving in her Givenchy dress. Selfishly the timing of the Royal Wedding could not have worked better for me as all of our suppliers for our Auditorium wedding had dropped off ahead of our 1.00pm ceremony for Sophie and Chaz.
Sophie and Chaz first booked their wedding at Òran Mór in February 2017, just weeks before I started in the venue. The couple who live in the South of England were getting married in Chaz’s home city of Glasgow and Òran Mór fitted the bill perfectly for their wedding venue.
I first met Sophie and Chaz in February this year where we were able to talk through all of the couples wedding plans. After a successful menu tasting earlier in November the couple had sent out a menu pre order to their wedding guests along with their invitations. The couple talked me through their plans for a Whisky theme table plan and table signage. They had collected bottles of Whisky which were then displayed on a wooden frame matching up with each table’s name.
Sophie and Chaz required slightly longer after their ceremony to get pictures taken as they were heading along to Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Photographer Sacha Miller did a great job capturing some stunning points in the gallery which made for some exceptionally unique wedding pictures for the couple.
The evening entertainment was kicked off with Sophie and Chaz well-choreographed first dance which had been rehearsed in the venue only once the day before the wedding. The Watersheds then took over and had the couple’s wedding guests on the dancefloor until the early hours of the morning.
Sophie and Chaz wanted to conclude their wedding with something a bit different, they hired Silent Disco equipment which was handed out to guests at midnight allowing them to dance the rest of the night away.
Thank you to Sophie who sent me this fantastic video of the silent disco. It’s safe to say that the Silent Disco was an absolute success, especially with groom Chaz who you can see having the time of his life.
Sharing your wedding day with a member of the royal family can be somewhat daunting, but I am happy to say that our Òran Mór royals, Sophie and Chaz on this sunny Saturday in May, had a spectacular wedding day.
