Restaurant manager Susan and fireman Wullie booked an appointment for a show round of our Auditorium in June 2017. The couple were looking for a venue to host a large evening reception on a Thursday evening in August 2018 and our venue was perfect for them. Not only was their preferred date available, but the venue suited perfectly as it was a just a short distance from where they were hosting their wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast at One Devonshire Gardens.
The couple were joined at the stunning One Devonshire Gardens by approximately 60 of their closest family and friends for their wedding ceremony on a beautiful sunny day in August, which was perfect as guests were able to take advantage of the outdoor space on the hotel grounds. It also meant that their VIP guest and furry friend Buster was able to join Susan and Wullie after their ceremony for some pictures. Photographer Morag Brown did a fantastic job shooting the newlyweds and a very excited Buster.
Another couple of surprise visitors arrived for fireman Wullie driving a large vintage fire engine that was stationed outside the venue for some cool wedding pictures.
After their time at One Devonshire Gardens the couple and their guests made their way over to Byres Road to join us in our Auditorium for a drinks reception. Photographer Morag took the couple to the Botanic Gardens for some more outdoor shots in the stunning West End. Then finally after taking full advantage of our Gallery for some couple shots, Susan and Wullie made their way down to our Bell Tower Entrance on Great Western Road where they greeted their evening guests.
The Auditorium was simply dressed with a variety of Gin bottles and flowers in the centre of each table, beautifully put together by Susan’s good friend Joanna Harvey, who also did the bridal bouquets. Believe it or not, this is simply a hobby for Joanna but what a fantastic job she did! Make Believe Events provided the Òran Mór fairy light package – which had a stunning effect when the sun eventually went down at around 9pm – as well as a traditional red post box for the gift table.
At 8pm The Jets took to the stage and kicked off the evening with the first dance, followed by a full set of wedding classics until 1am.
The couple and guests had a fantastic day utilising so many hot spots in Glasgow’s West End.
‘We had the most amazing time and honestly couldn’t have wished for anything more. Our guests have been so complimentary and everyone had a brilliant time. Òran Mór is truly an incredible venue. We can’t thank you enough for all your help and planning, and thanks also to all the staff last night for looking after everyone so well.’ Susan & Wullie
