Susie and Rosie popped in to the venue to visit our Auditorium on a Monday afternoon and were shown round by one of my colleagues. The couple loved the room so much that by the time I got back to work on Tuesday, they had already made a provisional booking for Saturday 21st July 2018.
Glaswegian Susie and Welsh girl Rosie who were living in London were keen to get the ball rolling on their wedding plans with only a year to get all of their plans underway. Producer Susie had a detailed list of questions at our first meeting, and from then it was clear that Susie had thought of absolutely everything. The couple were keen to have their wedding day completely unique to them, but with the priority always being their well looked after guests who were served with the finest food and wine in house, including the Scottish/Welsh themed pre-dinner canapés of Welsh rarebit and haggis bon bons.
On Friday 27th of October I had a visit from florist Melanie Paget from Briar Rose Flowers who had been given the challenge of creating Susie and Rosie a bespoke flower wall. When Melanie explained the brief for their colourful flower wall, and mentioned multi coloured ribbon, a ton of flowers and a neon sign, I couldn’t imagine what this was going to look like, but I think it’s safe to say that Melanie met the brief perfectly! This fantastic and seriously unique flower wall did not disappoint, and not only tied in perfectly with the couples flower bouquets and seat ties, but was also the back drop to several of the couple’s wedding photographs. Good work Briar Rose Flowers!
As Susie was a producer her wedding day was planned and pinned down to every last detail. To name but a few extras that the couple had arranged for their wedding, Susie had hired a PA system from our recommended sound and lighting company Night Flight to accommodate their day of entertainment which consisted of their DJ friend Tiger who welcomed guests to the venue with a set, the cutest performance from Susie & Rosie’s nephews during the ceremony, tubular bells played as the ladies exited the aisle, and finally confetti cannons – hired in from 21CC Wedding Fireworks – to make sure they got their perfect confetti shot.
The wedding week finally arrived and the couple were travelling to Glasgow with close friends and family to finish off the final wedding preparations. Before leaving Susie sent each member of the wedding party and wedding supplier an extremely detailed Wedding Call Sheet with details of EXACTLY how the day before the wedding (yes the day before the wedding), and the day of the wedding were to go, from start to finish. I can confidently say I have never received such a handover from a bride before, but with Susie being a producer I suppose this makes complete sense.
Rosie and Susie arrived separately at scheduled times to the venue, Rosie to our Byres Road entrance and Susie to our Bell tower entrance on Great Western Road. Both entered the Auditorium together with their fathers walking down each side of their wedding guests and meeting half way in the middle of the aisle where they then walked the last half of the entrance together hand in hand, both in their bespoke House of Ollichon white jumpsuits.
After the ceremony the ladies headed off to the Botanic Gardens with photographer Annabel Staff who had also travelled from London to shoot the wedding. The girls were then joined in the gardens by their dream team of a bridal party for some pictures. Annabel did a superb job of capturing the couple’s quirky personalities throughout the whole day which has made for a fantastic wedding album.
Susie and Rosie did a great job of their own wedding stationary including multi-coloured table plans, place cards which went perfectly with the colourful flower wall. Make Believe Events provided gold candelabras as centerpieces for each table for the wedding breakfast which fitted perfectly with our in house gold Brentwood chairs.
These ladies were extremely interesting and fun to work with, as their wedding day was completely full of surprises (extremely well planned surprises by Susie) as well as an exceptional atmosphere of love and fun throughout the whole day. Although both brides were keen to have their wedding day planned ‘to a t’ they didn’t forget to enjoy every last minute of it and photographer Annabel Staff did a fantastic job of capturing each moment of their day exceptionally.
