Singer/guitarist Joe Keogh and bassist Tom Sperring have been playing together since grammar school and formed Amber – as the band was originally named – while attending college. They got their first break when a BBC DJ fell in love with the demos Keough had uploaded onto the BBC Music Introducing site. In just their fourth gig, they performed at 2013’s Reading and Leeds Festivals, which led to a record deal with RCA. Amber Run’s first full-length album, 2015’s 5AM, reached No. 36 in the UK. They showed their versatility by reimagining six songs from their third album on the 2020 EP Philophobia (Unplugged).
