Band “A.” perform The Affectionate Punch and support

Legendary Scottish music mavericks The Associates’ debut album, ‘The Affectionate Punch’, was released in August 1980 on Fiction records (home of The Cure) to widespread critical acclaim. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this classic Scottish album’s release in 1980, Band “A.” have taken on the gargantuan task of re-imagining the album in this live homage devised especially for Celtic Connections 2020.

Under the name Band “A.” – Audrey Redpath, occasional backing singer for Paul Haig (Josef K) and chanteuse in her own right, along with a highly skilled quartet of luminaries – Mike Nolan, Brian Branford, Dave Guild and Ali Wilson – reimagine The Associates’ debut album – ‘The Affectionate Punch’. It was described by critics of the time as “A unique mix of punk, cabaret, opera, krautrock & glam”.
